Blue Jays Tagged with 3-2 Loss
|
The Detroit Tigers had to overcome a good performance from Toronto pitcher Stacy Hootentootin to claim a 3-2 win at Comerica Park. Hootentootin went 5.1 innings and allowed no runs. Detroit reliever Steve McGaughey got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Mark Lopez was tagged with the loss. Detroit, now 22-7, is setting the league on fire so far.
Detroit took a 3-2 lead on Randy Shrewsbury's 5th double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which Shrewsbury hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Toronto pitcher Mark Lopez shaking his head.
Shrewsbury said his team "played with determination."
