Win Streak Now at 7 for Tigers
|
The 7-4 Detroit win over Toronto was due in large part to Randy Shrewsbury. The Tigers second baseman was 2-4 with 2 singles. Riso Profanter earned save number 10 this season. Detroit, now 24-7, is playing great baseball to start the year.
The Blue Jays had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Tigers going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the slick-fielding shortstop Adrian Novakovic came to the plate. Novakovic hit a solo home run on a first pitch fastball from Toronto hurler Larry Legros. It was Novakovic's 3rd home run of the year.
Shrewsbury told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
