Nuts Pull Off Thrilling 3-2 Win in Extras
|
The Modesto Nuts picked up a win at Grainger Stadium, knocking off the Carolina Mudcats, 3-2. Starting pitcher Doug Lefebvre played a key role in the triumph. Earning his 1st save of the year was Mario Castaneda. The Nuts, now 19-5, have played inspired baseball.
Danny Madrid drove in one run for Modesto. With one out and the game tied in the top of the tenth inning, Madrid, who is tied for 5th in the NL in home runs with 6, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Carolina hurler Juan Zamora, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Nuts a 3-2 lead.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Madrid.
