Big Day for Ottinger as Cardinals Down Nationals, 5-3
|
No one was more impactful than Corey Ottinger in the 5-3 Palm Beach win over Potomac. Ottinger, who is tied for 9th in the NL in total bases with 52, was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. The winner was Palm Beach reliever Mike Gruba, now 2-0. The loser was Satoharu Katayama. William de Jesus earned the save for Palm Beach, his 3rd.
Ottinger had a big hit for Palm Beach with one out in the bottom of the eighth. With Palm Beach trailing 3-1, Ottinger hit a grand slam home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Cardinals up, 5-3.
Ottinger told a Palm Beach Daily reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
The Nationals are now 7-16.
