Tigers Roll Over Indians, 9-4
|
The Cleveland Indians and Detroit Tigers were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Detroit Tigers withstood an impressive performance by Cleveland first baseman Arvin Dungca to defeat the Indians, 9-4, at Progressive Field. Dungca went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2. Ryan Sobocinski picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 7. On the season, he is now 5-1.
Detroit relied on the hitting of Ryan Neal to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Tigers on top, 2-0. For the game, Neal had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We maximized our offense today," said Detroit skipper Colin Lancey. "That makes everyone's life easier."
The win puts Detroit at 26-8 this season.
