Blue Jays Lose to Phillies, 3-1
|
Philadelphia and Toronto duked it out and the Phillies came out victorious.
The Toronto Blue Jays got a superb performance from pitcher Tony Rios. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Philadelphia. The Phillies won the game, 3-1. Rios threw 6.2 innings allowing 3 runs. Brandon Tuckson got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 4 innings.
Philadelphia used a well-timed hit by Alberto Figueroa to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Phillies ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Philadelphia manager Dave Galindo. "It's usually not just one thing."
The Phillies saw their record improve to 16-20.
