Mets Deal Pirates 7-1 Defeat
|
The New York Mets got a stellar performance from pitcher Matt McAtee, who handcuffed the Pittsburgh offense en route to a win, 7-1, at PNC Park. The win elevated the Mets to 21-16.
New York used the bat of Nelle van den Berg to capture the win. The shortstop jacked a grand slam home run in the top of the first inning to put the Mets ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"Good pitching stops good hitting," said van den Berg. "And vice-versa."
