Stewart Tosses No-No Against Chukars
|
The Hudson Valley Renegades relied on no-hit stuff from starter Kevin Stewart to defeat the Idaho Falls Chukars 26-0 at Dutchess Stadium today.
"It's quite a thrill," Stewart told the media afterward. "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."
To get his name logged in the McNamara Division records, he stopped Idaho Falls cold and hitless, surrendering 1 walk and fanning 16 of the 27 batters he faced.
Hudson Valley manager Miguel Sano was in a jovial mode after the game, kidding with reporters that Stewart "made managing easy today."
"I didn't have hardly any decisions to make like I usually do," he said. "I didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter."
This season Stewart has compiled a 5-4 record with a 4.62 ERA in 12 starts.
