5-Hit Blitz by Diaz
Jose Diaz was at the head of a Lowell hit parade today at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. The catcher went to the plate 7 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Spinners to a 32-4 victory over the Tri-City ValleyCats.

"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Diaz told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."

ValleyCats skipper Bryant Crocker said later that the club gave up "too much plate."

"Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."

Jose Diaz singled in the 2nd, walked in the 3rd, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, struck out in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.

So far this season Diaz has hit .339 with 1 home run, 16 RBIs and scored 29 times.
