Chicago (NYP) Dazed, Chinn Gets No-Hitter
|
In a dominant outing, Silas Chinn of the Aberdeen Ironbirds totally silenced the bats of the Chicago (NYP) White Sox, finishing with a no-hitter.
In the Ironbirds' 5-0 victory, Chinn faced only 29 batters, surrendered no hits, had 16 strikeouts and 1 walk.
"Honestly, I didn't even know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning," Aberdeen manager Tyler Beede said. "I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had gotten, and I happened to notice that they hadn't gotten any."
Commenting on the defeat, losing manager Asher Wojciechowski had a "pretty simple" analysis of the game.
"The Ironbirds had all the hits and all the runs, so they won," he snapped. "But yeah, Chinn pitched a heck of a ballgame."
This year Chinn has registered 2 wins and 2 losses in 9 starts with a 3.25 ERA while registering 68 strikeouts and 14 walks in 44.1 innings.
