Larikov Slugs Blue Jays to 8-5 Win
|
Toronto catcher Zory Larikov made his presence felt in the 8-5 Blue Jays triumph over the Cleveland Indians. Larikov belted 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. The winning pitcher was Larry Legros. He tossed 107 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. Getting the save was J.J. Thompson, his 7th.
Larikov had a timely hit for Toronto in the top of the sixth. With Cleveland trailing 2-1, he turned a 1-1 fastball into a grand slam home run. It was his 4th home run of the season, making it 5-2, Toronto.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Larikov. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
After today's action, Toronto sits at 19-20, while Cleveland falls to 14-28.
