Cubs Tag Cardinals with 4-2 Loss
|
Chicago rode a good effort from starter Unkei Wakamatsu to beat the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium. The final score was 4-2. George Poirier, credited with the save, is now 17 for 17 in save opportunities. The National League Central Division-leading Cubs have a record of 54-22.
Chicago relied on the hitting of Will Leslie to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Cubs on top, 4-2. For the game, Leslie had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I take a professional approach to my job," said Wakamatsu. "I've been around this game for a while."
