Indians Earn 6-4 Win Versus St. Louis
|
The Cleveland Indians withstood an impressive performance by St. Louis right fielder John Blair to defeat the Cardinals, 6-4, at Busch Stadium. Blair went 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Justin Judson, the winning pitcher, improved to 7-7. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Hector Guerrero notched his 8th save in 8 chances.
It could have been a different outcome for Cleveland, had it not been for Paul Word, the 37-year old center fielder . Word contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the third inning to put Cleveland up, 4-1.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Word said after the game.
The win gives the Indians a record of 27-53.
