Late Rally by White Sox Locks Up 6-2 Win
|
Led by Jack Christie, the Chicago White Sox downed the Seattle Mariners, 6-2. Christie was 1-1 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the White Sox. Reliever Gerbrand van de Bilt picked up the win. His record improves to 4-2. Larry Tuckfard took the loss. The win gives Chicago a season record of 62-20.
Christie had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 0-1 fastball from William Cordero, he banged a grand slam home run to right, giving the White Sox a 6-2 lead. It was the 20th home run of the year for Christie.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Christie. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
