Expos Snatch Late Win
|
The Montreal Expos racked up a win at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, bumping off the Baltimore Orioles, 4-1. James Fisher, who started for Montreal, pitched effectively for his team. Mike Jones earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Elliott Payne, credited with the save, is now 3 for 3 in save opportunities.
Montreal used the timely hitting of John Ham to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Expos on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It was a good effort all around," said Ham.
Montreal now has a record of 43-42 with the win.
