Cardinals Edge Past Phillies, 4-3
|
The Philadelphia Phillies got a superb performance from pitcher Lennart Hjelm, but the St. Louis Cardinals still won the game, 4-3. Hjelm threw 7.1 innings of shutout ball. The win has St. Louis at 35-54.
Pavpv Ivanushkin was the walk-off hero for St. Louis. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Cardinals second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Philadelphia manager Dave Galindo.
