Orioles Stun Yankees, 11-9
|
The 11-9 Baltimore win over New York was due in large part to Kevin Howard. The Orioles third baseman went 1 for 2 with 3 walks, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. Baltimore reliever Joon-ho Rhee was the winner. His record is now 2-2. Robert Cruz took the loss. With the win, Baltimore raised its record to 49-41.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Randy Johnson Jr. came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing New York pitcher Robert Cruz, he hit a first pitch cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Baltimore on top, 10-9.
"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Jim White.
