Phillies Top Braves in Extras, 12-10
|
The Philadelphia Phillies trumped the Atlanta Braves, 12-10, at Turner Field. Philadelphia center fielder Ji-an Li was terrific. He went 4-6 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Victor Barron, credited with the win, is now 4-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit. The Phillies raised their record to 40-59.
Philadelphia relied on the hitting of Alberto Figueroa to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a 2-run single in the top of the 14th inning to put the Phillies on top, 12-10. For the game, Figueroa had 1 home run and 2 singles in 7 at-bats.
Figueroa called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."
