Floundering Twins Lose 8th Straight
|
A 3-RBI performance from right fielder Kevin McCormic Jr., who is tied for 7th in the AL in doubles with 27, led the Boston Red Sox to a win over the Minnesota Twins, 6-3. Justin Whitesack, who went 8 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 3-9. The last-place Twins have lost 8 straight games.
McCormic Jr. had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 1-1 fastball from Freddie Trainor, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Red Sox a 4-1 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for McCormic Jr..
"We put it together today and came out with the win," McCormic Jr. said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
