Padres Win at San Francisco, 6-3
|
The San Diego Padres beat the San Francisco Giants, 6-3, at AT&T Park. The win was due in part to third baseman Kevin Bellman, who went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Tommy Hall was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 17 of 21 save opportunities. San Diego, at 75-36, is 7 games up in the National League West Division.
In the top of the sixth, San Diego left fielder Per Meulengracht gave his team the lead. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Speed Merchant hit his 22nd double of the year. San Francisco pitcher Johnny Munoz surrendered it. With that, the Padres jumped in front, 3-2.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Bellman told the San Diego News.
