Mets Lose By a Run at New York, 3-2
|
The New York Mets and New York Yankees provided some drama for the home crowd.
New York Yankees starter Kyle Johnson pitched his team past the New York Mets, 3-2. Johnson picked up the win for New York, going 8 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 12-1. Robert Cruz notched his 30th save in 34 chances.
New York took a 3-2 lead on Bartholomeu Chambino's 28th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Chambino hit in the bottom of the eighth, left New York pitcher Ron Hawkins shaking his head.
Chambino described the clubhouse as "strangely calm" after the game.
