Zach Purvis was locked and loaded, helping the New York Yankees beat the Boston Red Sox, 4-1. With the win, New York pushed its record to 71-57.

New York used the timely hitting of David Bramble to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Yankees ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said New York manager Carl Arnold.
