Phillies Prevail, 3-1, Over Milwaukee
|
Starting pitcher Scott Bernstein took care of business, helping the Philadelphia Phillies stifle the Milwaukee Brewers, 3-1. Bernstein went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 0, and struck out 7. His record improves to 5-12. The win puts Philadelphia at 52-75.
It could have been a different outcome for Philadelphia, had it not been for Nick Canizales, the 31-year old second baseman . Canizales contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put Philadelphia up, 1-0.
Afterward, Phillies manager Paul Husch was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
