San Francisco's Henningar Gets 3000th Hit
|
The day belonged to Jack Henningar of the San Francisco Giants as he became the latest player to reach the 3000-hit plateau. He did it in San Francisco's 9-3 win over Philadelphia.
"It's a moment I'll never forget," said Henningar after the game. "3000 hits is a lot. It puts you in a very select group. I never expected to be around long enough to reach a milestone like this."
He finished the day with 3 hits in 4 at-bats.
In 2327 career games, Henningar has put up a .344 average, collected 473 doubles, 108 triples, and 773 home runs, driven in 2097 runs, and scored 2058 times.
