|
The Toronto Blue Jays downed the Chicago White Sox, 6-4. The hitting star was left fielder Isto Mäyrä. Mäyrä went 3-4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Blue Jays. Katsumi Omura was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 11 of 13 save opportunities. Toronto raised its record to 77-67 with the win.
In the bottom of the seventh, Toronto third baseman Tommy Mize hit a two-strike sinker to center field for a run-scoring single. It put the Blue Jays up, 5-4.
"I believe in our guys," said Toronto skipper Nersha Bainco. "I like the energy they're playing with."
