Diamondbacks Lose By a Run at San Francisco, 5-4
|
The San Francisco Giants topped the Arizona Diamondbacks, 5-4, in National League action at AT&T Park. The standout performance belonged to San Francisco pitcher and Sunnyvale, California, native Curt Howland. Borisz Barciniak came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 3-5. San Francisco now has a record of 91-63 with the win.
San Francisco first baseman Jason May contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball into right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 135th hit of the season and put the Giants ahead, 5-3.
"I'm proud of the way our guys played today to come out with this win," Howland told the San Francisco Observer.
