New York Wins, Jank has 3 hits today
|
The New York Mets topped the Washington Nationals, 6-5, in National League action at Nationals Park. The standout performance belonged to New York first baseman and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native Jeff Jank. The second-place Mets have won 6 straight.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the seventh, with the game tied, Javy Rosa was at the plate when New York scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Mets to go in front, 6-5.
In postgame comments to the New York Today, Jank said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
