Phillies Stun Mets, 5-1
|
Philadelphia Phillies starter Marko Emchenko worked his magic, as he helped his team defeat the New York Mets, 5-1. Reliever Rico Romero picked up the win. His record improves to 5-9. Zachary DeVault took the loss. The Phillies now have a record of 65-93 with the win over New York.
Philadelphia used a clutch hit from Luis Arce to get the win. The shortstop drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Phillies ahead, 5-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Philadelphia manager Paul Husch. "It's usually not just one thing."
