Astros Solve Angels, 4-2
|
Houston starter Kevin Ovens-Toots had a strong outing against the California Angels at Minute Maid Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-2 win. Ovens-Toots went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 13-11. Mat Pear was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 16 save opportunities.
Making an impact for the home team was Joe Gardner. In the bottom of the first, the 23-year old left fielder had a run-scoring walk. That made the score 1-0, Astros.
California manager Dakota Wise said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
The win gives the Astros a record of 54-105.
