Yankees Lose to Tigers, 5-1
|
The Detroit Tigers picked up a win at Comerica Park, taking down the New York Yankees, 5-1. Starting pitcher Ryan Sobocinski was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was Sobocinski, now 2-1. He tossed 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 3. Riso Profanter nailed down his 6th save.
Ryan Neal, who is tied for 9th in the AL in doubles with 5, helped out the Detroit cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the third baseman was 1-2 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
Sobocinski said his team "played with focus."
Detroit, now 13-4, has gotten their season off to a good start.
