Hits Galore: Swank Drills 5 Hits
Wednesday, June 1st , 2044
Even as a kid, Nick Swank said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Raley Field today, Swank showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 23-year-old catcher had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Sacramento River Cats, helping his team knock off the Oklahoma City Dodgers by a score of 16-6.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today."
Nick Swank walked in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Chris Bonfanti in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 8th.
This season Swank is batting .272 with 31 hits, 7 home runs, 20 RBIs, .341 OBP and has scored 19 runs.
