Charlotte Comes up Empty Against Pfeiffer Monday, August 15th , 2044 The Charlotte Knights had no answer today for Nashville Sounds pitcher Chad Pfeiffer. They failed to score a single run against him, losing 7-0. Charlotte managed only 1 hit off Pfeiffer, who had 8 strikeouts. The extraordinarily popular Pfeiffer got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd. "Sounds fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible." For the season Pfeiffer has logged 8 wins and 3 losses and struck out 88 batters in 101.2 innings while compiling a 1.95 ERA. |
