End of a Dream: Career Over for Gutierrez Tuesday, September 6th , 2044 All good things must end. So it does for the career of Sacramento reliever Danny Gutierrez. This morning, Gutierrez announced his retirement from baseball. The decision does not come as a complete surprise. Gutierrez suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament earlier this season. Treatment of the injury has not resulted in much progress. And Gutierrez, cognizant of the odds, had already called his return doubtful. The team will continue to explore its options for replacing Gutierrez. This season Danny Gutierrez has made 8 relief appearances, saving 0. His record is 1-0 with 11 strikeouts in 8 innings and a 1.13 ERA. |
