American League Top Pitcher Selected Monday, November 14th , 2044 The Durham Bulls have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making. It's Joel Montenegro, this year's American League Outstanding Pitcher Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance. Montenegro compiled a 14-10 record in 31 starts, tallied 193 strikeouts in 223.1 innings and recorded a 2.58 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .208 batting average against him. He received 24 first place votes out of a possible 30.
