Kirchmann Launches 3 HR for Blue Wahoos
Thursday, August 4th , 2044
Pensacola Blue Wahoos center fielder Joseph Kirchmann almost did it all today. He sent three shots out of the ballpark, scored 3 times and drove in 6 runs and had 3 hits in 4 at-bats.
The one thing he could not do, however, was lead the Blue Wahoos to victory. The Biloxi Shuckers escaped with the 10-6 win by the Biloxi despite being on the receiving end of the barrage from Kirchmann.
"I'd be lying if I said I didn't like hitting three homers, but losing takes a little glitter off the game," he admitted to BNN writers after the game.
Joseph Kirchmann hit a three-run home run off Johnathan Starr in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Johnathan Starr in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Matt Hirschi in the 8th.
"When someone hits three home runs, you put yourself in a tough position to win," said Pensacola manager Chris Archer. "We were lucky to win this one. I don't think it matters how hard you throw, especially in the National League. If you leave a ball out over the plate to good Eastern League hitters, if they get a bead on you and you leave it over the middle, they're probably going to take a good hack at it."
Thus far this year Kirchmann is batting .286 with 8 home runs, 39 RBIs and 44 runs scored.
