Stegall Fans 16 66ers
Friday, January 1st , 2044
Everything was working for Ryan Stegall today at Tradition Field. He had the perfect delivery. The ball was moving. The curveball was working.
In an unforgettable performance, the 23-year-old Stegall fanned 16 66ers and sparked the St. Lucie Mets to a 2-0 victory over Inland Empire. He left 66ers hitters mumbling and muttering at the plate. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it.
"I don't know if there are many times that I've seen him throw better," said St. Lucie manager Marcus McBeth. "His location and command were really something."
In addition to collecting 16 strikeouts over 8 innings, Stegall allowed 2 hits and no walks in a superlative outing.
"I thought I'd make it easy on the guys today," Stegall said with a smile.
This year in 7 starts, Stegall has recorded 4 wins and absorbed 2 losses. He has pitched 40.1 innings, allowed 39 hits, struck out 52 and has a 4.91 ERA.
