Postseason Bid Ends for Myrtle Beach
Monday, January 18th , 2044
Postseason baseball won't be coming to Myrtle Beach this year. The quest for the playoffs ended for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans today, as they were mathematically eliminated from contention.
"Not the first time I've experienced this," said Pelicans manager Jake Bauers, "but it never gets fun."
The Pelicans have missed the playoffs 24 times in their 28 years as a California Winter League franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 2nd in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 2041. In the last 10 seasons, the Pelicans have made the playoffs 3 times.
