Modesto Takes Round 1 in Deciding Game Monday, January 25th , 2044 The Modesto Nuts and Palm Beach Cardinals didn't hold back anything in the Round 1, with each team pulling out all the stops in an effort to advance to the Round 2. Modesto won the final game by a score of 12-4 at John Thurman Field and that concluded the series, 2-1. "Relief is the biggest thing," Modesto first baseman Eddie Quinones said when asked how he felt. "It's a grind both mentally and physically to have a long series like this, but our guys stuck with it and Palm Beach deserves credit for the hard fight." Quinones paced the Modesto offence and earned MVP honors. For the series, he hit .455 with a .571 on-base percentage, 2 home runs, 3 RBI and scored 5 runs. The Modesto Nuts will play against the Tampa Yankees in the next round. Tampa won their series against the Winston-Salem Dash 2 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
