Sunday, January 31st , 2044
California Winter League fans were certainly not disappointed with this A Division Round 2.
The two teams were evenly matched and the series went to the final game, with the Tampa Yankees prevailing over the Modesto Nuts to advance to the Round 3.
Tampa won the final game by a score of 3-2 at George M. Steinbrenner Field and that sealed the series 3-2.
"Things were tense in our clubhouse and dugout before and during this game, but we can let loose a bit now -- the hard work is over, for now," said left fielder Andres Valles, who earned MVP honors.
For the series, Valles hit .476 with a .500 on-base percentage. He had 5 home runs, 12 RBI and scored 5 runs.
The Tampa Yankees will play against the Stockton Ports in the next round. Stockton won their series against the Richmond Flying Squirrels 3 games to 1. The Round 3 schedule will be announced after the Round 2 finishes.
