Round 2 Goes the Distance, High Desert Prevails
Sunday, January 31st , 2044
The Round 2 went the distance before it all was said and done.
The High Desert Mavericks and the Bradenton Marauders went at it tooth-and-nail and when it was over at Stater Bros. Stadium, the winner was the Mavericks.
They put away Bradenton 8-2 to cinch the series and won the right to move onto the Round 3.
For his fine play, even in a losing effort, Bradenton first baseman Terry Sutherland was given the series Most Valuable Player Award. He hit .455, scored 4 runs and batted in 8 to win the honor.
"It's nice that someone noticed my numbers, but I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a win," he said.
The High Desert Mavericks will play against the Lake Elsinore Storm in the next round. Lake Elsinore won their series against the Potomac Nationals 3 games to 1. The Round 3 schedule will be announced after the Round 2 finishes.
