It's a No-No for Torres
Saturday, September 10th , 2044
The Lansing Lugnuts relied on no-hit stuff from starter Omar Torres to defeat the Lexington Legends 27-0 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark today.
"It's quite a thrill," Torres told the media afterward. "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."
To get his name logged in the American League records, he stopped Lexington cold and hitless, surrendering 1 walk and fanning 13 of the 28 batters he faced.
Lansing manager Stu Cole was in a jovial mode after the game, kidding with reporters that Torres "made managing easy today."
"I didn't have hardly any decisions to make like I usually do," he said. "I didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter."
On his stats sheet this season Torres shows a 4-5 record, 15 starts, 93 innings, 100 strikeouts and a 3.97 ERA.
