Machado Chosen September's Best NL Hurler Saturday, October 1st , 2044 The Kane County Cougars celebrated today after the news filtered through the clubhouse that Nate Machado had been selected as September's National League Pitcher of the Month. Machado's zest for the game has been a frequent topic on the sports pages and his numbers of late have made his fans even more enthusiastic. "Our coaching staff really helps me prepare well," Machado said, "and the fans feed off good pitching. Your pitches just seem to have that extra pop to them when the fans are behind you and you feel confident you can get outs." Machado tossed 29.1 innings last month, holding opponents to a .182 average while striking out 36 batters. In 4 starting assignments he came away with a 3-1 record, putting together an ERA of 0.92. This season Machado has a 5-2 record with a 0.88 ERA in 7 starts. |
