Paige Laces 3 HR Against West Virginia Monday, July 18th , 2044 It was a day for the record books for Salem-Keizer Volcanoes left fielder Jared Paige, who walloped three out of Russell Diethrick Park against the Black Bears. However, not even a three-homer game could prevent the Black Bears from taking the 17-9 victory. "We threw some good pitches and they hit 'em, and we made some bad pitches and they hit 'em. That's a good strategy for losing ballgames," Salem-Keizer skipper Cody Bellinger joked after the loss. Paige still had a few opportunities to celebrate along the way. He was 4-for-5 for the day, batting in 6 runs and scoring 4 times. "I never, ever thought I would hit three home runs," Paige said. "I hit three home runs once when I was 12 in Little League and I thought that was going to be the last time." Jared Paige doubled in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Mario Flores in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Ernesto Mendez in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Victor Medina in the 8th. Looking at his stats this year, Paige has compiled a .457 batting average, while hitting 9 home runs and driving in 28 runs. He has played in 12 games and scored 22 runs. |
