Nunez Goes Cycling Friday, August 19th , 2044 The Minnesota (NYP) Twins topped the Idaho Falls Chukars by a score of 25-9 at Baseball City Complex today but all the talk was on third baseman Jose Nunez. The Minnesota (NYP) star hit for the cycle in a show-stealing performance, powering his club to the win. Nunez went 5-for-5, collecting 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 2 home runs to go along with 10 runs batted in and 3 runs scored. "I felt comfortable at the plate in a way I haven't felt all season," Nunez said after the game. "It was like they were throwing beach balls at me - the ball seemed that big. And it just floated in." Jose Nunez walked in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Chris Shoemaker in the 3rd, hit a three-run double in the 4th, hit an RBI triple in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 5th and hit a three-run home run off Joe Cozart in the 6th. This season Nunez has banged out 102 hits in 267 at-bats for a .382 average with 9 home runs. He is getting on base at a .449 pace and his totals also include 74 RBIs and 49 runs scored. |
