Nero September's Best Hurler in NL Saturday, October 1st , 2044 The National League hitters didn't have a chance in September when the Cincinnati (NYP) Reds manager wrote "Nero" on the lineup card. Outing after outing, Jerry Nero held teams in check and usually got a win. He excelled with a 4-1 mark and 2.20 ERA in 5 starts. The talented Reds star pitched 32.2 innings, fanned 33 and held opposing teams to a .159 average. For his superb mound work Nero was named the NL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers. This year Nero has a 14-8 record with a 2.89 ERA in 30 starts. |
