2044 NL Outstanding Pitcher Award Chosen

Matt Moffat of the Reds humbled hitters all season long and today celebrated as he hauled in the National League Pitcher of the Year trophy, the coveted Outstanding Pitcher Award.

The Cincinnati (NYP) hurler held opposing hitters to a .209 batting average while putting up a 16-10 record and a 2.71 earned run average. He started 30 games, pitched 196 innings and struck out 232.

He received 25 first place votes out of a possible 30. Jerry Nero of the Cincinnati (NYP) Reds finished second in voting with 5 first place votes, while Hideki Kobayashi of the Cincinnati (NYP) Reds finished third.
