League Issues 5-Game Suspensions for Brawl
Tuesday, December 22nd , 2043
One player challenged the other with some angry words at the Braves-Tigers game at Champion Stadium yesterday. There was some pushing and shoving -- then the dugouts emptied. There was a lot of scuffling, but no punches thrown. When order was finally restored and the dust settled, the umpires ejected Atlanta (WIN)'s Colin Worthington and Detroit (WIN)'s Chris Haselhorst.
Now both antagonists will get some time off, courtesy of the league commissioner. They were suspended 5 games for inappropriate and aggressive behavior.
For the year Worthington is batting .324 with 8 home runs.
To date this season, Haselhorst has fashioned a 4.20 ERA and rung up 3 saves for his club. He has 22 strikeouts and 5 walks. Opponents have hit for a combined .288 average against him and Haselhorst has a 0-1 won-lost mark.
