Barrett Stops Seattle (WIN) Cold, 7-0 Wednesday, January 6th , 2044 "Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage. Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting. Steve Barrett of the Tampa Bay (WIN) Rays proved the point at Peoria Sports Complex today, holding the Seattle (WIN) Mariners to 2 hits in a complete game shutout victory. "Barrett made us look real bad today," Mariners manager Justin Toerner said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking." Barrett had 12 strikeouts and gave up 2 walks as the Rays took the 7-0 win. Currently Barrett has a 6-0 won-lost record in 8 starts with a 1.66 ERA. He also has 67 strikeouts in 54.1 innings. |
