Stevens Holds Cardinals Scoreless
Wednesday, September 7th , 2044
Curt Stevens kept the opposition off the scoreboard and the Cincinnati Reds were all smiles after winning 8-0 against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium today. The right-handed Stevens gave up no runs in his start, permitted 2 hits and had 13 strikeouts.
"If there was a stat for 'team shutout,' this would be it," Stevens said later. "My catcher called a great game, guys delivered at the plate and when I messed something up the guys behind me were where they needed to be."
This season Stevens has worked 190.2 innings with 266 strikeouts en route to a 15-6 record and a 3.73 ERA.
