Sovrivilla Goes Deep 3 Times
Wednesday, October 19th , 2044
The "hardest feat in sports" debate is a never-ending one with no correct answer, but hitting three home runs is certainly in the conversation. That's exactly what Melchor Sovrivilla did today at Nationals Park, going deep three times and carrying his team to victory, 7-2.
"It all came together. I was seeing the ball well and I got some good pitches to hit," Sovrivilla said. "Good things happen, when that happens."
The New York Mets third baseman blistered the Washington Nationals for 3 hits, batted in 5 runs and scored 3 times.
"It ain't like we weren't trying," Washington manager Mike Shore said. "He was hot and really torched my boys today."
Melchor Sovrivilla hit a two-run home run off Dale Ahernfeld in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Dale Ahernfeld in the 5th, struck out in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Manuel Romero in the 9th.
Looking at his season stats, Sovrivilla has compiled a .250 batting average and a .305 on-base percentage, while hitting 9 home runs and driving in 35 runs.
